#3: The Alphabet Of Me - Live In Berlin
Share
I've been sitting on this footage for a while now but finally got around to syncing up some audio with it, including a rough mix of the band and the click track, which might be of interest to some of you. Admittedly, this is a pretty straightforward song for Haken, so the click is mostly pretty simple too. But even for more complex songs with lots of time changes, etc. I do generally try to keep the click minimal, without subdivisions, unless absolutely necessary. The click sound I've been using (forever) comes from the Roland TR-909 kit - there are two separate woodblock pitches - and I tend to prefer this kind of sound over more generic DAW click sounds as it feels easier for me to hear! Anyway, perhaps I'll do a separate blog or post at some point which goes into more detail with how I use and programme click tracks.
If you have any questions about this song, the writing process or how to play it, etc. please feel free to drop a question or comment below.
Thanks again to Jake Ten for the footage (and photo!): https://jaketen.com/

Awesome, Ray! And really cool to be able to hear also your Roland SPD. Looking forward to learn how you program your click tracks as I tend to “program” them in GuitarPro but they only serve the purpose for use within GuitarPro in playback mode.
Congrats about the website and the blog!
Ah, as the self-proclaimed biggest Haken fan in all of Berlin, getting proper footage from that date is super appreciated! It really was one of my all-time-best life experiences so far, and the crowd of the day surely reflected that!
Awesome Ray! Super interesting to see with the click track.
